Studying the Big
Book (BB) of Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.) is the back bone of our
fellowship and of our sobriety. Our Basic Text
found on the first 164 pages of the BB IS the program of
A.A. PPAW was founded on the basic premise that an
in-depth study of this book will not only help us stay sober,
but will help us carry the message of hope to the still
HOW DID WE GET OUR
often times, need it spelled out for us. We need to be
given the keys to the kingdom with a set of clear instructions
on how to open the door. In our Basic Text, it was
found that there are numerous "Prayers, Promises, Actions &
Warnings" given to us, yet still many members of A.A.
find it difficult to understand just exactly how to practice
these principles in all our affairs.
One of our founding
group members had said to another, "Wouldn't it be great if
there were a BB study that focused specifically on these four
(4) things as a tool by which to better understand them?"
And thus it was born. PPAW, as it is affectionately
referred to, had it's very first meeting on June 15, 2011 at the
Forest Hills Library, in Forest Hills, Queens NY.
